New Birds!
I have a small bird feeder hanging from a tree on the back patio. It has become more popular each year, and this year we are the proud hosts of a small flock of yellow birds with black wings, that I think are American Goldfinches – check out their beautiful songs here http://identify.whatbird.com/obj/91/_/American_Goldfinch.aspx
These birds are so busy and happy, chirruping away to each other as they scurry about, pecking on the ground and picking up the seeds the more rambunctious birds leave scattered everywhere in their rush to gorge as much as they can before someone else gets anything. I am thrilled to see these lovely delicate little creatures visiting my patio. I hope they stay all summer and keep on singing!
The Plant Lady
Trillium Grove Farm is where I am living my gardening dream and my personal ideals of working with nature and respecting the earth. This blog captures my garden and landscaping projects: I am interested in establishing woodland gardens, cultivating organic vegetables, planting trees of all sorts, and I have a weakness for native plants, lavender and lillies. I favour planting with diversity and then letting nature find the right balance rather than interfering with chemicals and monoculture. …I even plant extra for the critters.
