Weekly Walk June 22 2009
Grasses are really stealing the scene around here this week! I’m not sure these are all native although I do remember some of them being around since I was a kid. I could spend a lot of time trying to identify them…or I can get this week’s weekly walk post posted before it’s next week! So here goes….

Trillium Grove Farm is where I am living my gardening dream and my personal ideals of working with nature and respecting the earth. This blog captures my garden and landscaping projects: I am interested in establishing woodland gardens, cultivating organic vegetables, planting trees of all sorts, and I have a weakness for native plants, lavender and lillies. I favour planting with diversity and then letting nature find the right balance rather than interfering with chemicals and monoculture. …I even plant extra for the critters.

They are all so graceful. I particularly like the second one with the hint of lavender to it.
Do you remember running them through your fingers as a child? Of course, the best was watching the wind blow over a hill of grass.
I was really taken by their motion in the wind as well, and that’s actually why I went closer to take some pictures on my walk. When I got up close I realized with a start that they had tiny flowers all over them! I have seen this before of course but never consciously registered the fact that they flower! I do remember grass being a big part of my days as a child – I chewed on it, braided it into little ropes, made pretend bouquets out of it…and I did run it through my fingers, like you! It has the sweetest smell
Very unique mixed white and yellow flowers, grasses will make a different on garden landscape.
Wow…this looks nice ! beats the cubicle at work for sure
Here’s a nice read, as I know you have competence in this area as well..

Wow, it took me a long time to reply….but thanks very much for the link! I did enjoy the article, and it does confirm my suspicion that I actually work for my cats
Excellent work on this garden article. It makes for an interesting and easy read.
Thanks for your kind words! I’ve been horribly absent from writing due to adopting that husky puppy….he is still very demanding but I intend to get back at the blog again this season, at least in some fashion.
